Grammy-nominated singers Davido and Ayra Starr have sent congratulatory messages to their South African colleague Tyla for winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 2024 Grammys.

The duo took to their individual X accounts to send in their well wishes.

Davido wrote: “Congratulations on your win @Tyllaaaaaaa ! Big One for Africa! Keep soaring”.

Ayra Starr posted: “Congratulations to my babessssss  @Tyllaaaaaaa”.

The female rapper and singer defeated Nigerian performers like David Adeleke, aka Davido; Ahmed Ololade, aka Asake; and Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, to win her first Grammy award.

On Sunday, February 4, 2024, Tyla won with her entry, “Water.”

Nigerian songs “Unavailable” by Davido, “Amapiano” by Asake, “City Boys” by Burna Boy, and “Rush” by Ayra Starr are in the same category as the South African song.

The US and the UK were among the 16 countries in which the song “Water” cracked the top 10.

The 66th Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony took place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, where the award was given out.
