Dr. Betta Edu has hosted a significant Iftar (breaking of the Ramadan fast) event at her residence in Calabar, bringing together prominent figures including the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

Bayero, Chancellor of the University of Calabar, was accompanied by the Acting Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Florence Obi and other members of the University’s Governing Council.

Additionally, members of the Muslim community in Cross River State, alongside other Muslim faithfuls, were present, marking a beautiful moment of unity during the holy month of Ramadan.

This event coincided with the annual Christian Lent season, underscoring Nigeria’s commitment to interfaith solidarity.

Dr. Edu acknowledged the efforts of Nigeria’s leadership under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promote national unity, cultural appreciation, and peaceful coexistence as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She extended her Ramadan greetings to Muslim faithfuls and congratulated the University of Calabar on its Golden Jubilee celebrations.

“Ramadan Kareem to all Muslims, and Happy Golden Jubilee to my alma mater, the University of Calabar,” said Dr. Betta Edu.
