Super Eagles captain, William Trust-Ekong has applauded Victor Osimhen’s brilliance, ranking him among the world’s top attackers alongside Ademola Lookman.

Speaking in Kigali aftrr the match again Rwanda, Trust-Ekong highlighted Osimhen’s outstanding performance after the striker netted both goals in Nigeria’s 2-0 triumph over the hosts, even as he emphasized that the victory was a collective effort rather than an individual feat.

“The win against Rwanda was a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication. Everyone played their part, and it is this unity that will drive us forward,” Trust-Ekong said.

He also praised Tolu Arokodare for making his debut from the bench and commended Alhassan Yusuf, who played out of position but still contributed effectively.

Reflecting on the team’s journey under new coach Eric Chelle, the captain noted that despite limited training sessions, the squad is adapting to his tactics.

“We try to understand what the coach wants from us. We have only had two training sessions and lots of video sessions too. Today’s win is a glimpse of what we should expect under Coach Eric Chelle,” he said.

Trust-Ekong, who has been with the national team for a decade, expressed pride in his leadership role, crediting his experience with past captains for shaping his approach. He remains committed to fostering an environment where young players can thrive and express themselves freely.
