Students in Ondo State have voiced their frustration over the growing insecurity in the region.
They organized a protest on Thursday to call attention to what they termed the “unfulfilled promises” of the state government.
The protest, led by the National Association of Nigerian Students ,NANS, Ondo State Chapter, saw students march through the A-Division area in Akure, blocking key roads including those leading to Oja-Oba, Alagbaka, and NEPA Market for nearly five hours. Protesters displayed placards bearing messages such as “Fulfil Your Promises, Mr. Governor” and “Enough is Enough.”
Comrade Joshua Oluwarotimi, Chairman of NANS JCC in Ondo, condemned the growing trend of student abductions, highlighting the state government’s inadequate response.
“The safety of our fellow students is at risk, and the government’s actions have been disheartening,” he said, urging the government to honor its promises and give greater focus to improving the education sector.
