The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has officially emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA for the gubernatorial election slated for November 8, 2025.
Governor Soludo, who is seeking re-election for a second term, was elected unopposed during the party’s primary election held on Saturday in Awka, the Anambra State capital. His candidacy received overwhelming support from party delegates, securing a total of 3,168 valid votes out of 3,172 cast.
The primary election, which was conducted peacefully and transparently, was supervised by the party’s electoral committee. The returning officer, Uche Nwegbo, while announcing the results, stated that 3,260 delegates were expected, with 3,175 duly accredited to vote.

“In total, 3,172 votes were cast, of which four were declared invalid. Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, having fulfilled all requirements and being the sole aspirant, is hereby declared the winner and flagbearer of APGA for the November 2025 Anambra governorship election,” Nwegbo announced to a cheering crowd.
Soludo, a former Central Bank Governor and respected economist, thanked party delegates and leaders for their confidence in his leadership. In his acceptance speech, he reiterated his commitment to transforming Anambra through sustainable development, economic reforms, and improved infrastructure.
“I am humbled by your support and deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me once again. This is not just a victory for Soludo—it’s a victory for the people of Anambra. Together, we will continue the journey of building a livable and prosperous homeland,” he said.
