Liverpool’s Premier League title ambitions suffered a significant setback on Sunday as they slumped to a surprising 3-2 defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The game kicked off with high intensity, and Liverpool took an early lead through Trent Alexander-Arnold in the 22nd minute.

The right-back curled a stunning free-kick into the top corner, leaving Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno with no chance. However, the lead was short-lived as Fulham struck back just ten minutes later.

A quick counter-attack saw Harry Wilson slot home an equalizer against his former club, igniting the home crowd.

Fulham took the lead shortly before half-time when Bobby De Cordova-Reid rose highest to head in from a well-placed corner, catching the Liverpool defence off guard. The goal gave Fulham a 2-1 advantage going into the break and left Klopp visibly frustrated on the touchline.

Liverpool came out with urgency in the second half and managed to level the score in the 65th minute through Darwin Núñez, who latched onto a loose ball in the box and fired past Leno to make it 2-2. The Reds pushed forward in search of a winner, but their efforts left them vulnerable at the back.

Fulham seized the opportunity in the 85th minute when substitute Rodrigo Muniz finished off a slick move with a clinical strike that beat Alisson Becker at his near post. The goal proved to be the winner, as Liverpool were unable to mount a comeback in the final minutes of the game.

The defeat leaves Liverpool trailing behind in the title race, while Fulham’s victory lifts them further away from the relegation zone and underscores their strong form at home.

Speaking after the match, Jurgen Klopp expressed his disappointment with the result: “We had the game in our hands, but gave away too much. Credit to Fulham – they took their chances and punished us. We have to learn and move forward quickly.”

Fulham’s manager Marco Silva, on the other hand, praised his team’s performance: “It was a great display of character and quality. I’m proud of how the players responded and fought for every ball. These are the kind of performances that define us.”

Liverpool will now look to bounce back in their next fixture as the season enters a crucial phase, while Fulham will aim to build on this momentum.
