Popular Nigerian singer, Portable, was arrested Sunday by law enforcement officers during a live broadcast on his Instagram page.

The unexpected scene quickly caught attention online as the visibly confused singer questioned the officers’ actions before being taken away.

In the video, Portable repeatedly asked what he had done wrong, claiming the officers said they were acting on a petition from Ilorin, Kwara State.

“I no know wetin I do. Dem talk say dem come from Ilorin, say na petition,” he said moments before the live session ended abruptly.

As of press time, no official statement had been issued by the police, and attempts to reach the singer’s management team have been unsuccessful.

The arrest adds to a growing list of controversial events surrounding the artist in recent months, sparking renewed conversations online.

Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, first gained national fame with his breakout hit “Zazuu Zeh,” and has remained in the spotlight—often for reasons beyond his music.

Earlier in 2025, he was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command but later turned himself in at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba.

In March, the singer stirred controversy over the Instagram handle “Elizabeth Joyce,” a name he initially said was linked to an attempt to explore internet fraud, also known as Yahoo Yahoo.

Following public backlash, he retracted the statement, explaining that the account was tied to a soap brand he used and was not fraudulent.

Beyond digital controversies, Portable has had physical altercations with other entertainers, including public disputes with artists such as Davido, Small Doctor, and Burna Boy.

In March 2023, the singer was also arrested in Ogun State for allegedly assaulting police officers who attempted to shut down his bar.

Toward the end of 2023, he was caught on video engaging in a scuffle with security personnel after being denied entry to an event where he was not scheduled to perform.

Despite frequent brushes with controversy, Portable remains a household name in Nigeria’s street-pop scene, known as much for his headline-grabbing actions as his energetic musical style.

His most recent arrest has reignited discussions about celebrity behavior, accountability, and the blurred lines between performance and personal conduct.

While fans await clarification from law enforcement or the singer’s team, many continue to speculate about the nature of the Ilorin-based petition.
