Portable is currently in police custody following his arrest by the Kwara State Police Command over allegations of criminal defamation and threat to life.

The arrest follows a petition submitted by Mr Okunola Saheed, popularly known as “Osupa,” accusing the singer of multiple serious offences.

The petition includes allegations of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, use of abusive language, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

Kwara State Police Command spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in a statement issued in Ilorin, said police took necessary legal steps after receiving the complaint and gathering preliminary evidence.

She explained that due to the gravity of the accusations and supporting materials provided, the Command sought and obtained a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin.

“Acting on this warrant, our operatives moved to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where the suspect was arrested on Saturday, April 13, at about 7:25 p.m.,” she stated.

The arrest was made in the presence of legal representatives from both parties to ensure transparency and compliance with due process.

Ejire-Adeyemi noted that Portable is currently in custody, and efforts are ongoing to conclude documentation and charge him to court without delay.

She stressed that the Command remains committed to upholding the rule of law while handling the matter in a fair, professional, and impartial manner.

The spokesperson urged the public to remain calm and avoid the spread of unverified or misleading information that may obstruct justice or disrupt public peace.

She assured that further updates regarding the case would be communicated to the public as investigations and legal proceedings unfold.

The Kwara State Police Command also reaffirmed its dedication to protecting the rights of all individuals involved while maintaining order and public safety throughout the process.
