Osariemen Unuigbe, an 18-year-old Nigerian-American student whose parents hailed from Edo State, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by earning admission offers from six Ivy League universities, including Harvard and Yale.

The exceptional teenager, a senior at Egg Harbor Township High School in New Jersey, credits her success to years of hard work, academic discipline, and strong family support.

“We are elated, surprised, but absolutely delighted. We can only give all the glory to God for this great miracle,” her proud family shared in a statement.

Osariemen, whose parents—Dr. Augustine Unuigbe and Dr. Florence Unuigbe—are both accomplished professionals, has long been recognized for her scholastic achievements and leadership potential.

She was admitted into the prestigious Governor’s School of New Jersey, a selective summer program for top students, and has held numerous leadership positions in her school community.

In addition to her academic prowess, Osariemen is a well-rounded individual with diverse interests. She plays on her school’s lacrosse team and is passionate about the arts, especially dancing, painting, and drawing.

Her outstanding achievements have not gone unnoticed. She was recently honored as a 2025 “Rising to the Top” scholar by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Southern New Jersey Chapter—an award that celebrates young Black women making exceptional strides in education and leadership.

Osariemen’s story comes amid a significant rise in Nigerian student enrollment in the United States.

According to the latest Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, over 20,000 Nigerian students were enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities during the 2023/2024 academic year—representing a 13.5% increase.

The report highlights that Nigerian students continue to enrich American campuses with their academic excellence, cultural diversity, and global perspectives.

With her future now open to some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, Osariemen Unuigbe stands as a proud symbol of academic excellence, cultural pride, and the transformative power of education.
