Sunday Oliseh has disclosed a heartfelt story of how his view of Paris Saint-Germain,PSG, manager Luis Enrique evolved over time
The former Super Eagles midfielder, who scored Nigeria’s winning goal in their famous 3-2 victory over Spain at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, recalled how he once saw Enrique in a negative light.
During the Group D clash in France, Oliseh described Enrique as a “sore loser” after the Spanish midfielder lashed out at Jay-Jay Okocha for his trademark dribbles. But years later, a moment of quiet observation changed everything for the Nigerian legend.
In a recent post on social media platform X, Oliseh recounted being at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin during the 2015 UEFA Champions League final. Barcelona had just won the title, but Enrique, then manager of the team, showed little interest in the celebrations.
Oliseh wrote that Enrique’s eyes were only on his ailing daughter, Xana, who was battling cancer at the time. The memory of Enrique walking past jubilant players and fans, consumed with concern for his daughter, left a lasting impression.

Xana tragically passed away in 2019 at the age of nine. Enrique has since spoken publicly about the pain of losing her, saying her memory lives on through the love they shared.
That moment of compassion deeply resonated with Oliseh, who drew a personal connection to his own daughter, Shanice.
Enrique is currently enjoying success with Paris Saint-Germain, guiding the team to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League after a hard-fought win over Aston Villa.
Now set to face Arsenal in the next round, Enrique’s strength both on and off the pitch continues to earn him admiration.
