The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has ordered an immediate investigation of allegations on extortion involving officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
The directive followed a viral social media post claiming that NSCDC personnel extorted a total of ₦5.2 million from a group of young men traveling from Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State to Akure, Ondo State.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Babatunde Alao, the minister said any officer found guilty would be made to face the full weight of the law.

The NSCDC has come under increased public scrutiny in recent times over multiple allegations of misconduct and abuse of office.
