The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has strongly condemned the deliberate recirculation of old videos aimed at discrediting the Force and creating panic among citizens, warning that such actions pose a serious threat to national security.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Force described the trend as mischievous and detrimental to its ongoing efforts to build public trust and enhance internal security.
The statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, two major videos recently resurfaced on social media have been identified as sources of misinformation.
One of the videos features a Police Mobile Force officer lamenting poor welfare conditions during a deployment to Yobe State. The NPF clarified that the video is several years old, and the issues raised at the time were addressed administratively.
Another video in question allegedly shows a Counter Terrorism Unit officer accusing the government of sending officers to the frontlines without adequate ammunition and claiming that banditry is politically motivated.

He warned that such behaviour undermines the integrity of the Police and could incite unnecessary tension.
IGP Egbetokun reassured the public of the NPF’s commitment to improving officer welfare and operational capacity, stating that the leadership remains focused on proactive crime-fighting measures across the country.
The Police Force reiterated its call for responsible media sharing and urged citizens to verify the authenticity and relevance of content before disseminating it.
“The Inspector-General of Police cautions members of the public to desist from spreading falsehoods that may undermine the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement concluded.
