The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has praised the Directorate of State Security, DSS, for its professionalism in handling security challenges in Plateau, Benue, and other hit spots.
The commendation was made by MACBAN’s National President, Alhaji Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.
He said the DSS, under the leadership of Mr Tosin Ajayi, had demonstrated commendable professionalism in managing complex security threats in the region, urging other security agencies to emulate the agency’s approach.
Othman-Ngelzarma described President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint Ajayi as Director-General of the DSS as a commendable move and one of the administration’s best decisions so far.
He noted that the DSS had successfully distinguished between law-abiding Fulani herdsmen and criminal elements, which, he said, was a critical step in resolving the ongoing tensions.

He highlighted that the agency’s commitment to investigating the root causes of insecurity had restored confidence among affected communities, while also encouraging peace-building efforts across regions.
The MACBAN leader lamented the displacement of over 20 per cent of the association’s members and the loss of nearly four million heads of cattle, forcing many to flee the country due to insecurity.
He said the mass movement of herders had contributed to the rising cost of beef in the country, which was once the most affordable source of animal protein.
While expressing concern over the impact on the livestock economy, he reiterated the association’s willingness to collaborate with both federal and state governments to enhance security efforts and restore normalcy in rural areas.
Othman-Ngelzarma also appreciated President Tinubu for creating the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, describing it as a significant step toward transforming Nigeria’s livestock industry and fulfilling a key campaign promise.
