Two prominent figures of the Labour Party,LP, in Enugu State, Mr. Titus Odo and Prince Emeka Mamah, have rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP,.
Odo, who served as the LP Publicity Secretary in the state, and Mamah, a former Commissioner for Environment and the 2023 State Coordinator of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign, were received on Wednesday at the PDP State Secretariat by the party chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike.
The return marks a significant gain for the PDP as it repositions itself ahead of the 2027 general elections. Both men had left the PDP during the 2023 elections but said the leadership style and developmental efforts of Governor Peter Mbah prompted their return.
Welcoming the returnees, Chukwunwike described their decision as a positive step that aligns with the governor’s directive to reconcile and rebuild the party.
He noted that efforts were ongoing to ensure unity and proper mobilisation of aggrieved members who left the party for various reasons.
He said the defection of key figures like Odo and Mamah would energize the PDP’s grassroots network and consolidate support across the state.

Speaking at the event, Odo said he was happy to return “home,” stating that Governor Mbah’s infrastructural achievements and inclusive governance were key motivations.
“I came back because of the giant strides by the governor and the transformation in my local council under the leadership of Mr. Uchenna Ogara,” he stated.
Odo also mentioned the defection of Dr. Chijioke Edeoga, the LP’s 2023 governorship candidate, as another reason that influenced his move.
On his part, Mamah thanked PDP leaders in Igboeze North and Enugu North Senatorial Zone for their warm reception.
He described Mbah’s performance as commendable and said more former party members would soon follow suit.
The Labour Party in the state is currently facing internal leadership challenges, including the suspension of its state chairman, further adding to its recent setbacks.
