A group of devoted supporters of Otunba Iyiola Omisore, the former Deputy Governor and immediate past National Secretary of the APC, have officially left the All Progressives Congress, APC, to realign with their former party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

During the event at the PDP state party, Secretariat in Osogbo, Hon. Emmanuel Fasogbon, the State Coordinator and a trusted ally of Otunba Omisore, expressed the sentiments of their group. He revealed that the loyal followers felt abandoned and neglected within the APC after their unwavering support during crucial electoral campaigns, including the 2018 gubernatorial rerun for Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola

“We worked tirelessly for the emergence of Oyetola, dedicating our time and resources to ensure his victory, as well as supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ambitions. Yet, we have received little recognition or reward for our efforts,” Fasogbon stated.

Hon. Lekan Oyadare from Odo Otin echoed these sentiments, highlighting the perceived injustice against their leader Omisore. “A 12-star general in Osun State politics was treated like a private soldier by the APC. They dangled promises before us, yet here we are, feeling like we’ve been cast aside,” he lamented. He described the APC’s environment metaphorically as “Hellfire,” emphasizing the turmoil the group experienced.

The decision to reunite with the PDP was fueled by a collective realization among the group that their contributions were unappreciated. They convened a meeting of the Omisore Youth solidaruty Forum (OYSF), where the overwhelming consensus was to return to their roots in the PDP, a party they believe fosters inclusivity and equality.

Hon. Oyadare also took the opportunity to commend the efforts of Mr. Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke stated that he has brought much-needed comfort and progress to Osun State. He urged the PDP leadership to recognize the commitment and sacrifices of their group as they reintegrate into the party.

In response, the State Party Chairman welcomed the defectors, assuring them of a level playing ground within the PDP, reiterating that the party values every member equally.

“As a Democratic Party, the PDP is committed to ensuring that everyone has a voice, and we are glad to have you back home,” the Chairman stated.

As the political landscape in Osun State continues to evolve, this shift could signal a pivotal moment for both the PDP and the APC as we navigate the upcoming political challenges.
