President Bola Tinubu has tasked Nigerian youths to take full advantage of the skills acquisition programme initiated by the National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, describing it as a vital tool for employment generation and national advancement.

In a statement after a recent inspection of the centre, the President said the initiative offers practical training in cutting-edge technologies that can help address unemployment and foster homegrown innovation.

He emphasized that Nigeria’s future hinges on a tech-savvy generation equipped with relevant skills to compete in the global economy. “We are investing in young people because they are the key to our national transformation. NASRDA’s programme is a gateway to opportunity,” Tinubu said.

The NASRDA skills acquisition scheme covers fields such as satellite technology, drone operations, digital fabrication, and geographic information systems. The programme is open to youths across the country and aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and technical expertise.

Tinubu called on state governments and private stakeholders to support the expansion of such initiatives, ensuring wider access and long-term impact. He also charged beneficiaries to approach the opportunity with commitment and creativity.

The programme is part of a broader national effort to harness the potential of Nigeria’s youth population in science and technology for economic growth.
