The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken a significant step toward digital governance with the official launch of its Online Citizenship and Business Management Platform, designed to revolutionize how citizenship and business-related services are accessed and processed in the country.
Announcing the platform in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani described it as a crucial component of the Ministry’s reform efforts to modernize public service delivery.
The digital platform is expected to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks, reduce processing time, and boost transparency and accountability in the administration of citizenship and business permits.
“The platform was built with the public in mind,” Ajani said. “It is user-friendly, secure, and scalable, allowing individuals and businesses to apply for citizenship, obtain or renew business permits, and comply with foreign workforce regulations with ease and speed.”

The new platform offers a range of essential services including applications for Nigerian citizenship by naturalization, registration, or confirmation; issuance and renewal of business permits for both local and foreign entities; and processing of expatriate quotas and compliance documentation.
It also features a comprehensive tracking system that enables users to monitor the status of their applications in real time, as well as a dedicated support system to assist with technical issues and application-related inquiries.
The government emphasized that the online platform, available at [https://candb.interior.gov.ng](https://candb.interior.gov.ng), is fully integrated with the Ministry’s internal databases and is supported by robust data encryption and cybersecurity protocols to safeguard personal and corporate information.
This initiative, Ajani noted, aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the area of improving the ease of doing business in Nigeria and fostering a more inclusive and technology-driven governance model.
“The launch of this platform is not just a digital upgrade—it is a commitment to better service, stronger national security, and improved investor confidence,” she added.
The Ministry encouraged corporate stakeholders, investors, legal representatives, and the general public to make full use of the platform, promising that future updates would include biometric integration, multilingual support, and automated verification with relevant security agencies.
With this step, Nigeria joins a growing list of countries using technology to streamline immigration and business administration, making government services more accessible and reliable for citizens and foreigners alike.
