Joy Mojisola Raimi, Nigeria’s official representative at the 72nd Miss World pageant, has arrived in Telangana, India, carrying the hopes of a nation and the beauty of its diverse heritage.
The 24-year-old University of Port Harcourt graduate is not only competing for a crown but also promoting a cause—her humanitarian initiative, The Love for Humanity Project, aimed at spreading kindness and restoring hope in communities.
This year marks Nigeria’s 41st appearance at Miss World—a legacy that began decades ago and reached a pinnacle in 2001 when Agbani Darego became the first Nigerian and African woman to win the global crown. Joy Raimi, with grace and cultural pride, now continues that legacy.
From her arrival, Joy has captured attention—not just for her striking beauty, but for her commitment to representing Nigerian identity through fashion, values, and action.
During the Miss World opening ceremony, she wore a breathtaking custom gown inspired by multiple Nigerian ethnic traditions.
The ensemble paid homage to Cross River ceremonial attire with its flowing silhouette, featured gold embroidery echoing northern regality, and included coral motifs rooted in Edo and Igbo customs.

A beaded gele, horsetail whisk, and hand fan completed her majestic look, while a green and red Africa emblem embroidered into the gown symbolized resilience and unity.
Calling the global pageant “the Olympics of beauty,” Joy is not only engaging with contestants from over 100 countries but also serving as a cultural ambassador for Nigeria.
She recently joined the Hyderabad Heritage Walk dressed in a regal aso-oke, proudly showcasing the strength and richness of Yoruba craftsmanship.
Her journey so far—shared widely on social media—has resonated with many Nigerians and Africans at home and abroad. As the pageant progresses, Joy continues to embrace each experience, highlighting not just Nigerian beauty, but its values of compassion, courage, and community.
With confidence and cultural consciousness, Joy Mojisola Raimi stands poised to make her mark—one step, one smile, and one tradition at a time.
