Manchester City celebrated an emotional night at the Etihad Stadium as club legend Kevin De Bruyne played his final home game, helping the team to a crucial 3-1 win over Bournemouth that boosts their Premier League hopes.
Goals from Omar Marmoush, Bernardo Silva, and Nico Gonzalez secured the win for City, pushing them into third place in the Premier League table just ahead of the final round of matches.
City’s hopes momentarily wobbled when Mateo Kovacic received a red card in the 70th minute. But Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook followed suit just minutes later, getting sent off for a reckless challenge on Gonzalez.
Adding to the celebratory mood, Ballon d’Or winner Rodri made his long-awaited return from a knee injury that had sidelined him since September. The Spanish midfielder came on late in the game, receiving a warm welcome from fans and teammates alike.

Earlier in the day, Manchester City honoured De Bruyne by unveiling a mosaic in his likeness and naming a road at their training facility after him. A massive “King Kev” banner greeted the Belgian playmaker as he led the team out.
De Bruyne, who has won six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy during his 10-year spell at the club, expressed gratitude after the match:
“I’ve always wanted to play football that brings joy. I think we had a lot of fun over these 10 years.”
With one game left in the season — an away fixture at Fulham — City need only a point to guarantee a top-five finish, thanks to a superior goal difference over sixth-place Aston Villa.
City fans will now hope for a fitting final flourish to De Bruyne’s legendary spell as the club heads into its final match of the campaign.
