The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, has partnered with the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, to integrate data from its Employees Compensation Scheme with the National Identity Number system.

NSITF Managing Director, Oluwaseun Faleye, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Director-General of NIMC in Abuja. Faleye said the collaboration aims to enhance data sharing and validation, enabling the Fund to verify employee records more efficiently.

According to Faleye, linking ECS enrollees’ information to the NIN portal will streamline NSITF’s processes and boost its capacity to deliver social security services.

He emphasized that accurate identity verification is increasingly vital, citing how NIN validation is already mandatory for obtaining a passport in Nigeria.

The partnership will also support NSITF’s demographic research, helping it gather more reliable data on workers nationwide.

Faleye stressed that this integration will not only improve service delivery but also ensure that eligible individuals are properly identified for both compensation and future social security programs.

He reiterated the importance of the ECS, noting it is designed to compensate employees who suffer injuries, disabilities, or fatalities in the course of their work. The NIN linkage, he said, will help verify the identities of those already enrolled under the scheme.

In response, NIMC Director-General, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, expressed full support for the collaboration. She assured the NSITF that her commission is committed to enabling seamless data integration.

Coker-Odusote said both agencies’ IT teams would begin working together immediately, forming a joint technical group to handle the integration.

She added that a one-week timeline would be set for the initial process and expressed optimism about achieving tangible results in record time.
