Nigeria will host the 4th African Natural Resources and Energy Investment Summit, AFNIS, from July 14–17, 2025, as it rallies leaders and investors to boost green energy and natural resource development across the continent.

This year’s edition will take place in Abuja and is themed “Harnessing Local Content for Sustainable Development.”The summit aims to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and unlock investment opportunities in mining, energy, agriculture, and finance.

According to a statement by Segun Tomori, media aide to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, the event will bring together high-level stakeholders from more than 25 countries—including officials from the African Development Bank, World Health Organization, Africa Finance Corporation, and Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority.

AFNIS 2025 will also mark the official unveiling of a new lithium processing plant, a project expected to create jobs, promote technology transfer, and deepen Nigeria’s industrial capacity.

The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to local value addition in the mining sector.

“This summit will solidify partnerships that have already attracted multi-billion-dollar investment pledges from the G20 Summit in New Delhi,” Tomori said. “It will also open doors for expanded collaboration with Nigeria’s private sector.”

The four-day summit will showcase reforms by the Ministry of Solid Minerals aimed at positioning Nigeria’s mining industry as a major pillar of economic growth.

It will also serve as a platform for developing policies that promote sustainability and responsible resource use.

Now in its fourth edition, AFNIS has grown into Africa’s premier platform for dialogue on equitable resource management.

Past summits have focused on energy transition, environmental responsibility, and poverty reduction through resource-driven development.

The 2024 edition drew attention to Africa’s vast mineral wealth and its critical role in empowering communities and driving prosperity across the continent.

As Nigeria prepares to host AFNIS 2025, the summit is expected to further galvanize efforts toward a greener, more sustainable, and inclusive African economy.
