The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered two vehicles and a firearm allegedly stolen by the suspects in a recent robbery operation.
The arrests were made by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, Awkuzu, following a tactical intelligence-led operation that led them to Agukwu-Nri, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State on May 30.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday in Awka.
Ikenga stated that the arrest was made possible through actionable intelligence obtained from a previously arrested robbery suspect already in police custody.
The suspects — all male — are aged between 27 and 32 years, Ikenga said. During the arrest, law enforcement officers recovered a white Mercedes Benz C300 4MATIC with registration number Delta KWC 140 TX, and an ash-colored Lexus RX 350 with registration number 669 CY. Both vehicles were allegedly stolen during separate armed robbery incidents in the state.
Also recovered were two high-end smartphones and a pump-action shotgun believed to have been used by the gang during their criminal activities.

“The Command, through the efforts of the RRS unit, has shown its commitment to proactive policing and the dismantling of criminal networks operating in the state,” Ikenga stated.
He further noted that investigations into the case had been expanded, as the police intensify efforts to track down other members of the gang who are currently on the run.
“The suspects in custody are cooperating, and we are following leads to apprehend others involved in this syndicate,” he said. “We urge members of the public to support the command by providing credible and timely information to help us rid Anambra State of crime.”
Ikenga also reassured residents of the state that the Police Command remained resolute in its mission to protect lives and property. He emphasized that the successes recorded were part of a broader strategy of intelligence gathering, community collaboration, and swift tactical responses to security threats.
The arrest adds to a growing list of recent security victories in Anambra, as authorities continue their fight against violent crime and organized criminal activity.
Police say the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
