Nigerian music star Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has expressed her excitement ahead of her upcoming performance at the historic halftime show during the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
The highly anticipated event will take place on July 13 at the iconic MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
Tems, who won a Grammy in 2023 and has continued to rise as a global music force, will be joined on stage by Colombian reggaeton icon J Balvin and chart-topping American singer Doja Cat.
The halftime show marks the first of its kind for the FIFA Club World Cup and is set to be broadcast live to millions of viewers around the world.
In a statement released by Global Citizen, the production partner for the show, the performance is not just a musical celebration but also a platform for advocacy.
It will spotlight the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a new initiative dedicated to expanding education and football access for children across underserved communities.

“We’re going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment — to celebrate football, feel the unity that music brings, and help improve the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.”
“I can’t wait. See you at the FIFA Club World Cup final!”
The FIFA Club World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 13 across various U.S. cities. This year’s edition is the first under the expanded 32-team format, making it a landmark tournament in the football world.
The FGCEF, co-led by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Global Citizen co-founder Hugh Evans, seeks to raise \$100 million. The fund will support educational programs and grassroots football development initiatives globally, especially in regions with limited access to basic schooling and sports infrastructure.
Tems’ participation adds to a growing list of African artists who are using their global influence to champion social causes while elevating African music on the world stage.
Her involvement in this event aligns with her growing profile as a voice for change and inspiration for young creatives across the continent.
The show is expected to blend vibrant African, Latin, and pop music cultures in an unforgettable performance that highlights unity through sport and sound.
