Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on politicians across all parties to unite and support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the collective task of building a stronger and more prosperous nation.

Speaking during a meeting with traditional rulers in Enugu State on Monday, Mrs Tinubu emphasized the importance of national unity and inclusivity.

Her visit was part of a series of outreach activities under her Renewed Hope Initiative, which included the distribution of professional kits to midwives across the South East geopolitical zone.

“Regardless of political affiliation, we are all responsible for Nigeria’s growth,” she said. “Our diversity is a strength. Let’s use it to create a safe, united, and thriving nation.”

Mrs Tinubu commended the vital role traditional rulers play in grassroots governance, describing them as the “eyes and ears” of the government.

She urged them to support her social health campaigns, particularly those targeting cervical cancer, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation .

As part of her RHI programs, she announced two new initiatives: “Flow with Confidence,” which ensures adolescent girls do not miss school during their menstrual periods, and the “Environment Club/Society,” designed to engage students in environmental restoration activities.

Addressing the need for nationwide peace and security, Mrs Tinubu encouraged all Nigerians to freely visit and experience different parts of the country, stressing that “no one should be hindered from exploring the beauty of Nigeria.”

Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Highness Samuel Asadu, praised the First Lady’s dedication to improving public health and affirmed the traditional institution’s support for the Tinubu-led administration. “For us in Enugu, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock,” he declared, signaling strong support for the President’s continued leadership.

At the midwives’ kit distribution event, which marked the completion of the initiative across all six geopolitical zones, Mrs Tinubu expressed satisfaction that the project had reached nationwide coverage. Each midwife received scrubs and crocs aimed at enhancing professional hygiene and morale.

Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, likened Mrs Tinubu to “the Florence Nightingale of our time,” lauding her responsiveness to health-related concerns and her hands-on approach to social support. He also applauded President Tinubu’s “courage and dedication to the Nigerian cause.”

In addition to the health-related efforts, the First Lady also announced a ₦50 million grant under the RHI program, earmarked for 1,000 women petty traders in Enugu. The funds, she said, would be distributed directly to the beneficiaries to boost small-scale businesses and enhance women’s economic empowerment.

The visit underscores the First Lady’s continued focus on grassroots development, women’s empowerment, and intergovernmental collaboration through her Renewed Hope Initiative—a flagship platform that has become a cornerstone of her public engagements.

With Enugu marking the final stop in the midwives’ kit distribution program, Mrs Tinubu reaffirmed her commitment to nationwide outreach and inclusive development, urging all Nigerians to embrace unity as the path forward.
