The Lagos State Government has announced a diversion plan ahead of the 110-day repair work on the Ogudu/Ifako Bridge.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos. He said that the long-awaited bridge repair will commence on June 28, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed by October 15, 2025.

Osiyemi explained that the work will be carried out in eight phases across both lanes of the bridge.

“The first to fourth phases, covering Ogudu/Ifako Bridge inbound Alapere, will run from Saturday, June 28 to Saturday, August 16, 50 days,” he said.

“Phases five to eight, covering Ogudu/Ifako Bridge inbound Oworonshoki, will take place from Saturday, August 16 to Sunday, October 5, 51 days.”

Motorists were advised to consider alternative routes due to the partial closure during the repair period.

For phase one, motorists from Iyana Oworo are advised to go through Gbagada to Anthony, then connect Ikorodu Road for onward travel. One lane will remain open around the work area, 50 meters before and after.

For phase two, motorists from Eko Bridge should proceed via Funsho Williams Avenue to connect to Ikorodu Road.

Osiyemi assured the public that Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, officials would be deployed to minimize inconvenience and manage traffic efficiently.

He urged motorists to be patient, noting that efforts would be made to reduce disruptions during the bridge repair works.
