Renowned Nollywood actor and producer, Kayode Peters, has passed away in Canada, sending shockwaves through Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

The news was confirmed on Friday by his friend and colleague, Steve Onu, popularly known as Yaw, who spoke with Peoples Gazette about the devastating loss. According to Yaw, efforts to get more information from Mr. Peters’ brother have so far been unsuccessful.

“Yes, he is,” Yaw replied when asked about Peters’ death. “I am still trying to speak with his brother but he is not picking,” he added, clearly shaken by the news.

Further confirmation came via a social media post from entertainment blogger, Cutie Juls, who revealed that Kayode Peters died in the early hours of Saturday, June 28, in Canada.

While the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, the entertainment world has already begun to mourn the sudden departure of one of its beloved figures.

“Sad, Kayode Peters, movie actor and producer, passed away in Canada this morning. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the blogger wrote on Instagram.

Kayode Peters was widely respected in Nollywood not only for his acting prowess but also for his significant contributions as a producer. Over the years, he earned a solid reputation for his versatility and dedication to storytelling in both television and film. Many remember him for his appearances in popular productions and his ability to mentor and collaborate with other creative talents in the industry.

His sudden passing has left many in shock, especially considering he was reportedly still active professionally. Tributes have started pouring in from friends, fans, and industry colleagues who have described him as “humble,” “visionary,” and “committed to the craft.”

The Nollywood community has been no stranger to grief in recent times, but the loss of Kayode Peters adds a particularly painful sting given his active engagement in ongoing projects and the respect he commanded among his peers.

Though official confirmation from family members is still pending, the news has already gripped the public, with many taking to social media to express their condolences and share fond memories of the late actor. As fans await further details about what led to his death, many are calling for a celebration of his life and the indelible mark he left on the Nigerian film industry.

Meanwhile, the entertainment world continues to mourn another talent gone too soon.
