Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba has issued a public apology to his wife, Natasha, his children, and fans following backlash over a controversial statement he made during a recent podcast appearance.
The Afrobeat icon had sparked outrage with comments suggesting that men are biologically inclined to be with more than one woman, a sentiment widely condemned as promoting infidelity.
In the podcast, 2Baba claimed that while a man could deeply love one woman, it was “impossible” for him to be sexually faithful to her.
“A man is not built to sexually be with one woman. A man can love one woman die, but it’s impossible for a man to sexually be with only one woman. It’s the biology of man,” he had said.
The comment went viral, drawing sharp criticism on social media and in public discourse. Many accused the singer of justifying cheating and undermining the principles of commitment and monogamy, especially given his own complex marital history.
In response to the backlash, 2Baba released a video apology on Tuesday night, acknowledging that his remarks were not only inappropriate but deeply hurtful to those closest to him.

“I know I fuc#ked up with what I said,” the singer confessed. “And I know I’m going to get cancelled because of it. I apologise to my fans and most importantly, my wife, the love of my life, Natasha, and also my kids. I’m terribly sorry. That’s not who I am.”
Describing the statement as “unlegendary,” 2Baba admitted that his words did not reflect the values he aspires to uphold or the lessons he has learned over the years.
He urged fans and critics to see beyond the mistake and understand that he remains committed to becoming a better man, husband, and father.
The apology appeared to be aimed not just at damage control, but also at reaffirming his respect for family and for those who look up to him as a role model. It also signalled his awareness of the social responsibility that comes with celebrity status.
The apology video has received mixed reactions. While many fans commended him for taking responsibility and showing humility, others urged him to reflect more deeply on the societal impact of his words, especially given his large following.
As the conversation continues online, 2Baba’s public apology has reignited debates around fidelity, gender expectations, and the pressures of fame in modern-day relationships.
