Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is on the verge of leaving the Premier League champions after reportedly agreeing personal terms with Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray.
The 31-year-old Brazilian, who has played a pivotal role in City’s historic successes over the past eight years, is preparing for a new chapter in his career as Galatasaray begins formal negotiations over his transfer fee.
The Turkish champions are believed to have submitted an initial bid of €3 million (£2.6 million or $3.5 million) to Manchester City earlier this week.
Now, renowned journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has revealed that Ederson has reached an agreement with Galatasaray on personal terms, signaling that the deal is progressing swiftly.
Ederson’s departure marks the end of an era at the Etihad Stadium. Since joining City from Portuguese side Benfica in 2017, the Brazilian international has established himself as one of the most consistent and technically gifted goalkeepers in European football.
His distribution, calmness under pressure, and shot-stopping abilities were vital components in City’s dominance both domestically and on the continental stage.
During his eight seasons at Manchester City, Ederson won an impressive array of silverware, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, and the coveted UEFA Champions League title.
He was also a crucial figure in City’s historic 2022–23 treble-winning campaign, helping them secure the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League in the same season — a feat previously only achieved by Manchester United in 1999.
Despite still having years of top-flight football ahead of him, Ederson’s time at City appears to be coming to a close as manager Pep Guardiola looks to refresh his squad for the 2025–26 season.

Reports suggest the club is already targeting a replacement, with Burnley’s young English shot-stopper James Trafford emerging as a top candidate.
While Galatasaray have taken the lead in securing Ederson’s signature, they were not the only club pursuing him. According to sources, Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad also submitted lucrative offers to lure the experienced goalkeeper to the Middle East.
However, Ederson appears to have been swayed by the opportunity to continue playing in Europe with a club of Galatasaray’s stature and Champions League pedigree.
Manchester City’s immediate focus now turns to pre-season preparations. The squad recently returned from their Club World Cup campaign in the United States and are scheduled to play just one more warm-up match — a friendly against Palermo FC, one of City Football Group’s affiliate clubs, on August 9.
The new Premier League season kicks off a week later, with City facing Wolverhampton Wanderers in their opening fixture.
Ederson’s likely departure will leave a lasting legacy at City. He redefined the modern goalkeeper role and was instrumental in one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.
If the deal with Galatasaray goes through, it will signal not just a new adventure for the Brazilian, but also the beginning of a new era at Manchester City.
