The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, NTAC, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his recent approval to strengthen Nigeria’s existing bilateral engagements with countries of the Caribbean.

Dr Yusuf Yakub, the Director-General of NTAC gave the commendation on Monday during the deployment of four medical doctors as Technical Aid Corp, TAC, volunteers to Grenade, an Eastern Caribbean country in Abuja.

The NTAC director-general said that the agency’s latest action was in keeping with Tinubu’s directive during his State visit to Saint Lucia last month.

“Today we are deploying volunteers to Grenada, one of the East Caribbean countries.

“You recall that Mr President was in Saint Lucia, where he made a commitment to deploy support in terms of technical assistance to these countries.

“Today’s deployment is, therefore, in line with the President’s directive, and we appreciate him for his 4-D Foreign Policy Initiative; an initiative that is working for Nigeria and Nigerians,” Yakub said.

He said that NTAC was being sponsored fully by the Nigerian government, adding that the programme was projecting the country positively.

The NTAC boss congratulated the volunteers on their successful enlistment into the scheme and urged them to carry the spirit of humanitarianism into their host country.

“The Grenadians are our brothers and sisters and, therefore, deserve the best of services,” he said.

Yakubu lauded the volunteers for their sacrifice, while assuring them that NTAC will fully support their mission through airfare, allowances and general welfare as stipulated in the country agreement.

He, however, said that the host country would be responsible for accommodation, utilities, and transportation.

Ambassador Zakari Usman, Director of Programmes at NTAC, lauded the passion of the D-G towards the success of the Grenada deployment and commended the volunteers for their willingness to serve.

Also speaking, the Team Lead of the volunteers, Dr Esala Abene, expressed gratitude to the President and the Nigerian government for the opportunity to serve outside the shores of the country.

He pledged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and to contribute in strengthening the relations between Nigeria and Grenada.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the volunteers comprised of specialist medical doctors and other health professionals.
