As family, friends, associates, and admirers across the country mark the birthday of Dr. Alimi AbdulRasaq, the Mutawalle of Ilorin Emirate, glowing tributes continue to pour in, celebrating his enduring legacy of service, leadership, and mentorship.
Among the early well-wishers is Alhaji Abdullateef Adediran Sulaiman, popularly known as Santana, a long-time associate and former personal aide to Dr. AbdulRasaq. In a heartfelt message, Alhaji Santana described the celebrant as “a boss, a father, and a benefactor whose life has profoundly influenced mine and many others.”
The duo share a bond that spans over three decades, beginning in the early 1990s when Alhaji Santana served under Dr. AbdulRasaq during his tenure as Chairman of the Itakpe Iron Ore Project. Reflecting on those years, Santana noted that “working closely with Dr. Alimi offered me a masterclass in leadership, humility, and public service. He demanded excellence, yet treated those around him with genuine kindness.”
He further praised Dr. AbdulRasaq’s commitment to the Ilorin Emirate and Nigeria at large, describing him as “a man whose legacy transcends positions held—his impact is visible in the lives he has uplifted, the institutions he has strengthened, and the ideals he has stood for.”
The Mutawalle of Ilorin is widely respected for his distinguished contributions to both public administration and community development, earning him admiration across political and social divides. His birthday, often marked with quiet dignity, has nonetheless become an annual moment of reflection and gratitude for those whose lives he has touched.
