The Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State, has received a ₦1 billion special intervention from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, to establish an innovation hub and park.
This was announced in a statement by the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Alhaji Abdullahi Yahaya-Bello, in Dutse on Friday.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo said the institution was among a select few chosen to benefit from this major initiative.
The hub is designed to empower students with self-reliance skills, turning them into potential employers in their fields while promoting creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

It will feature facilities like a product design laboratory, 3D printing lab, software lab, leathercraft workshop, biotechnology lab, and an electronics lab.
Additional components include a textile and fashion design workshop, upcycling and recycling centers, and an eco-laboratory that addresses environmental challenges through sustainable innovation.
There will also be a refrigeration and air-conditioning lab with simulators and demonstrators for improved technical understanding and product development.
Prof. Sabo disclosed that the hub will serve as a platform for mentorship, networking, and advanced research, turning ideas into marketable solutions and encouraging economic growth.
On completion, the university is expected to attract skilled professionals and become a national model for innovation-driven development.
