Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo has formally petitioned the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu accusing the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre of procedural misconduct and bias during an ongoing investigation involving her and controversial social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VDM.
The petition, filed through her legal team, The Maverick Forte Legal, on July 29, 2025, follows what Ojo describes as a series of inappropriate actions by NPF-NCC personnel and undue interference by VDM in an official police interrogation session.
Her legal counsel expressed alarm at what they termed a breakdown of due process and a violation of her rights as a citizen and a witness.
According to the petition, the actress had been invited to the NPF-NCC headquarters in Abuja for questioning in relation to defamation and cyberbullying allegations filed by Nigerian music artists Naira Marley and Sam Larry.
The case is rooted in the online controversies that trailed the death of singer Mohbad, with Ojo among public figures who vocally called for justice.
During one of the interrogation sessions, however, the petition claims that VDM—who is not only a civilian but also a defendant in a separate case where Ojo is a key witness—was inexplicably allowed into the interrogation room.
More troubling, according to her lawyers, was that VDM appeared to be welcomed into the setting, engaging casually with the officers and even partaking in refreshments while Ojo was being questioned.

“This was a clear violation of basic interrogation protocol, a breach of privacy, and a threat to the integrity of the investigation,” the petition reads. Ojo’s legal team noted that the presence of VDM compromised her security and undermined the legal sanctity of the session.
The petition further alleges that Commissioner of Police Ifeanyi Henry Uche maintains an unusually close relationship with VDM, allegedly granting him unrestricted access to the facility, which would ordinarily be off-limits to unrelated third parties.
Iyabo Ojo’s camp argues that such access is unethical and points to systemic bias within the NPF-NCC handling of the case.
Adding to the concerns is the claim that confidential information discussed during her interrogation was subsequently leaked and appeared on social media.
Ojo believes VDM may have been the source of the leak, as some of the details surfaced on his platforms shortly after the meeting.
Beyond calling for an independent probe, Ojo is requesting that the case be transferred from Abuja to Lagos, citing a loss of faith in the objectivity of the officers currently involved.
She also declared that she would no longer be appearing at the Abuja facility, citing health and safety concerns following what she described as harassment and a compromised investigation atmosphere.
Her lawyers emphasized that an earlier petition she filed against VDM in December 2024 has gone unanswered, deepening her distrust in the current police process.
They also questioned the professionalism of a law enforcement body that would allow a party with a conflict of interest such access to an ongoing investigation.
