Shooting Stars Sports Club ,3SC, of Ibadan was thrown into mourning on Monday after newly appointed assistant coach, Akin Olowokere, collapsed and died during a training session in Ijebu Ode.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday morning at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode, where the Oluyole Warriors were preparing for the second matchday of their pre-season games.
Olowokere, a former Sunshine Stars player and coach, had recently joined the 3SC technical crew following changes in the club’s coaching staff. Eyewitnesses said he suddenly slumped on the pitch, prompting immediate medical attention.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead shortly after arrival. The club has yet to release details on the cause of death.
Olowokere was widely respected in Nigerian football for his contributions both as a player and as a coach. His passing comes at a time when the team was looking forward to a new era under fresh leadership.
The incident has left the club, players, and supporters devastated as they face the difficult task of continuing their preparations without one of their newly appointed technical leaders.
Meanwhile the All-Progressives Congress in Oyo State has expressed deep shock over the sudden death of Coach Olowookere, describing it as devastating and untimely.
This is contained in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Ibadan.
Olowookere reportedly slumped and died on the pitch early on Monday morning, during a training session at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, causing great sorrow within the football community.
The APC said that the tragedy was a huge loss to the deceased’s family, 3SC, and the global soccer community.
The party recalled Olowookere’s enthusiasm and passion, after joining the new coaching crew of the Oluyole Warriors, noting his expected role in transforming the team’s fortunes after 26 years of disappointing performances.
The APC extended heartfelt condolences to Olowookere’s family, the management and staff of 3SC, and supporters worldwide.
The party prayed for God’s comfort and strength for all mourning the irreparable loss of the talented coach.
