Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Monday met with stakeholders from Ifelodun Local Government, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to scaling up infrastructure projects and tackling security threats for the prosperity of the state.

The meeting, held in Ilorin, brought together monarchs, clerics, politicians, youth leaders, community representatives, and both serving and former public officers, led by the council chairman, Hajji Femi Yusuf.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor noted that his government was working closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser and security agencies to eliminate criminal networks in Ifelodun, Patigi, and Edu local governments.

AbdulRazaq outlined several ongoing and planned projects in Ifelodun, including the Ajase-Ipo–Oke Ode–Sagbe Road, Alabe–Oreke Road, Oro Ago Road, Ora township road, to be reawarded, and the Orisa bridge. He added that the Akamo bridge was also being considered, alongside rehabilitation of portions of the Share–Babanla Road.

The governor commended community-led efforts such as the ICT Centre in Igbaja, stressing that constructive engagement with government was essential for development. He urged citizens to avoid exaggerating security concerns, warning that such narratives could discourage investment.

“I assure you of our commitment to eliminating threats,” AbdulRazaq said. “As we make our communities safer, let’s also project them positively to attract investment and growth.”

Stakeholders at the meeting praised the governor’s approach to both security and development. Council chairman Yusuf applauded the government’s “swift response and multi-layered strategies” in partnership with federal authorities to restore peace in the area.

Former House of Representatives member, Alhaji Kola Yusuf, and community elder, Oyin Zubair, also expressed appreciation. They called for sustained action against the sponsors and informants of criminals while urging support for those affected by recent security incidents.
