The Federal Government has dismissed claims of bias in the allocation of projects and appointments, insisting that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has been guided strictly by fairness, justice, and equity in its development agenda.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday.

Idris was responding to what he described as “insinuations, half-truths and fake information” about the alleged lopsided distribution of federal projects.

According to him, this administration has demonstrated “uncommon commitment to balanced development and inclusivity,” ensuring that no region of the country is treated as a second fiddle.

“Contrary to the perception being pushed in some quarters, this administration has demonstrated uncommon commitment to balanced development and inclusivity since assuming office.

“The distribution of capital projects under President Bola Tinubu is equitable. No region is playing a second fiddle or ignored,” he said.

Idris explained that data released by the government showed that the North-West region had so far received the largest share of federal approvals, with ₦5.97 trillion, over 40 per cent of the total.

Other allocations include South-South, ₦2.41 trillion, North-Central, ₦1.13 trillion, South-West excluding Lagos, ₦604 billion, South-East, ₦407 billion, and North-East, ₦400 billion.

He added that the government had also secured ₦150 billion and ₦100 billion respectively for light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna, while metro line projects in Lagos and Ogun form part of a broader nationwide rail development plan expected to create over 250,000 jobs.

The Minister also said that under President Tinubu, there were major road projects that this administration had flagged off and nearing completion.

” Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, 750 km: 175 km ongoing in Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.

” Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, 1,068 km: 378 km ongoing in Kebbi and Sokoto sections.

” Trans-Sahara Highway, 465 km: 118 km ongoing in Ebonyi State.

” Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road, 439 km: Being redesigned from flexible to rigid pavement for durability,” he said.

He explained that out of the total length of these projects, the North accounts for 52 per cent and the South 48 per cent.

He further said that under the healthcare, Power and Oil Projects, the Tinubu administration had rehabilitated more than 1,000 primary healthcare centres, revived the 255MW Kaduna Power Plant, advanced work on the AKK Gas Project, and supported oil exploration in Bauchi and Gombe States.

In rail infrastructure, he said the Kano–Maradi line, which stood at just 5 per cent completion when inherited, had reached 67 per cent under the current government.

Idris further noted that equity was not limited to infrastructure but extended to appointments, stressing that the President had consistently picked competent Nigerians from all regions.

“On the whole, President Bola Tinubu has not only kept faith with Nigerians but has proven himself to be a fair, pragmatic, and consequential reformer.

“His leadership is inclusive, his vision is unifying, and his commitment to equity and justice is unwavering.

” Nigerians can rest assured that under his watch, no part of this country will be left behind,” he said.
