Sean “Diddy” Combs has been jailed for 50 months after a New York jury convicted him of transporting women for drug-fuelled sex activities.
The sentencing, delivered on Friday by Judge Arun Subramanian, marks a stunning downfall for the 55-year-old rapper, producer, and entrepreneur once celebrated as a cultural icon.
The judge also imposed a fine of $500,000 and ordered Combs to remain under supervised release for five years after serving his jail term. More than a year already spent in custody will be credited toward the sentence.
The conviction stems from Combs’ orchestration of what prosecutors described as “freak-off” events — encounters involving drugs, escorts, and his girlfriends, often arranged across state lines and filmed by him.
Jurors in July acquitted him of more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges but found him guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution under the Mann Act.
Prosecutors pressed for more than 11 years, arguing that Combs used intimidation, violence, and coercion to maintain control.
Witnesses, including singer Cassie Ventura, testified about years of abuse, manipulation, and fear. Another woman, referred to as “Jane,” recounted similar experiences on the stand.

Defense lawyers countered that the relationships were consensual and sought a lighter sentence of 14 months.
They pointed to Combs’ philanthropic work and business achievements while urging the court to consider the time he had already spent behind bars.
Judge Subramanian acknowledged the competing arguments but stressed that a message needed to be sent about the exploitation of women.
“The sentence must reflect the seriousness of the conduct and deter others from engaging in such abuse,” he said.
Combs, dressed in a dark suit, apologized in court, calling some of his past behavior “disgusting.” He also vowed to challenge the convictions on appeal.
The sentencing caps a turbulent year in which Combs faced a series of lawsuits and public allegations of sexual misconduct.
Once regarded as a towering figure in music and fashion, he now faces years away from the spotlight, his career and legacy overshadowed by the courtroom drama.
