England international Marcus Rashford has expressed his happiness at Barcelona, saying he is enjoying football again and would be open to making his current loan move from Manchester United permanent.

The 27-year-old winger joined the Catalan giants in July 2025 on a season-long loan, with the La Liga champions holding an option to make the deal permanent for £28 million — a figure lower than the £40 million United would reportedly demand from other clubs.

Rashford, who remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2028, appears to have fallen out of favour under Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.

His move to Spain has provided a new start, and the player admits he feels rejuvenated both on and off the pitch.

“I’m enjoying this football club, and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it’s an honour,” Rashford told ESPN in an interview. When asked whether he would like to stay in Spain permanently, he responded confidently: “For sure.”

Rashford’s performances have been impressive since arriving in Barcelona. He has scored five goals in 12 matches, including a brace in the Champions League clash against Olympiakos on Tuesday.

His pace, creativity, and direct attacking style have quickly made him a favourite among Barcelona supporters.

The former Manchester United academy graduate, who spent 23 years at the club, said the change of environment was necessary for his personal and professional growth.

“People forget this, but 23 years of my life was with Manchester United. Sometimes you just need a change. Maybe this is the case with me, and I’m enjoying everything,” he said.

Rashford also credited his earlier loan spell at Aston Villa last season under Unai Emery for helping him regain confidence before making the move abroad. That period, he noted, reminded him of the joy of playing without pressure.

As he prepares for his first-ever El Clásico against Real Madrid this weekend, Rashford remains focused on maintaining his momentum and contributing to Barcelona’s title challenge.

With the club reportedly pleased with his adaptation and form, discussions about triggering his permanent deal are expected to follow in the coming months.
