Sen. Solomon Adeola, representing Ogun West Senatorial District in the Senate, says he is carrying out 12 electrical power projects to end frequent power outages in some parts of his constituency.

Adeola, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, disclosed this in a statement by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, on Sunday in Lagos.

He said that the interventions followed numerous written and verbal passionate appeals from residents, business owners, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders in Ogun West and parts of Ogun Central senatorial districts.

Adeola said that the residents of the affected areas had not enjoyed stable electricity for more than a month.

According to him, the situation has not only affected businesses, particularly micro, small and medium- scale businesses, but the quality of lives of the people.

“I have listened carefully to the cries of our people in Ogun West and adjoining parts of Ogun Central.

“The persistent power outages have crippled businesses and made life difficult for our people residing in many communities and settlements.

“As their elected representative and apostle of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I cannot fold my arms while my people and other residents suffer in darkness.

“I am fully committed to ensuring that power is restored and sustained in the shortest possible time going forward.” Adeola said.

The senator said that  he had  mobilised contractors and concluded negotiations with them on the project.

He said that this was to ensure immediate critical rehabilitation, reconnection, and construction works as well as supply of transformers across the affected areas.

Adeola listed projects under execution to include the reactivation of Ilaro to Ibese 33KV overhead lines; the reactivation of Ibese to Dangote 33KV overhead lines and the reactivation of Dangote, Ibese to Joga 33KV -overhead lines.

He also listed the reactivation of Isaga Junction to Ibara Orile and Isaga 33KV overhead lines, the reactivation of Dangote, Ibese to Igbogila 33KV overhead lines, 118 spans and the reactivation of Igbogila to Ayetoro 33KV overhead lines.

Also included are the reactivation of Igbogila to Ijoun 33KV overhead lines and reactivation of 33KV overhead lines from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro to Oja Odan – through Ebute Igbooro ‘331 spans’, according to him.

Adeola said that others included the construction of dedicated 33KV feeder to Ilaro township from Papalanto Transmission Station and construction of Owode feeder from Ota Transmission Station to Owode River Bridge.

He stated that his intervention also included maintenance works along: Idiroko – Ipokia – Akere – Yewa; Aferiku Town- Tube – Ode Pata – Agada – Igua; Agosasa – Bode Ase – Idosemo – Idosa – Ijofin; and Oke-Odan – Eyeknase Isagbo – Oke Ijako – Owo.

Adeola said that the maintenance work would also cover Ita Atan – Ilase Junction Owode Ajilete Inside – Ihumbo – Idiroko; Iwoye Owode; Agosasa – Tube – Igude.

He also listed the supply and Installation of 500KVA 11/0.415KV Transformer at Oniroko, Abeokuta as part of the project.

Adeola said that this also included supply and Installation of 500KVA 11/0.415KV Transformer at Kings Dominion Street, Off Kuforiji Olubi Road, Saraki Area, Adigbe, in Abeokuta.

According to him the intervention represents part of a comprehensive and sustained power infrastructure rehabilitation programme designed to ensure reliable and equitable electricity supply across all communities within Ogun West.

Adeola said that these also cover adjoining areas.

He added that: “Electricity is the backbone of industrial and social development.

“By addressing these power challenges, we are restoring hope, reviving local economies, and creating an enabling environment for business growth”.

Adeola appreciated residents for their patience and understanding during the blackout.

He assured them that the current intervention would bring visible and measurable improvements in power supply within the shortest possible time.
