President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, on his 10th coronation anniversary, describing the traditional ruler as a dynamic and visionary leader.
Tinubu, represented by Joseph Tegbe, the Director-General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, spoke on Sunday at the anniversary celebration in Iwo, Osun State.
The President said Oba Akanbi’s leadership qualities and dynamism had significantly contributed to the harmony and spiritual relevance of Iwoland, which for centuries had been home to diverse religious communities living peacefully side by side.
“Today we celebrate the impact of the traditional ruler, Oba Akanbi, and reaffirm our commitment to the institution he occupies,” he said, adding that his administration remained committed to supporting traditional rulers nationwide due to their vital role in national unity and development.
Tinubu further assured that the Federal Government would continue to support major developmental projects in Iwo and the wider Osun State.
Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, also praised Oba Akanbi’s contributions to religious tolerance, unity and peace, describing him as a monarch whose voice strengthens national cohesion. He pledged continued cooperation, saying his doors would remain open to the monarch.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Sunday Olufemi, congratulated the Oluwo, calling the anniversary a significant milestone for both the people of Iwo and the state. Adeleke commended the monarch’s passion for the development of Iwoland and assured continued government support.

“We appreciate the traditional ruler for putting the state on the world map,” he said, adding that no form of intimidation could displace him from the throne.
In his remarks, Oba Akanbi said his reign had fostered a blend of tradition and modernity, creating a vibrant cultural and intellectual environment in Iwoland. He noted that the traditional glory of the kingdom had been restored during his time on the throne and urged political leaders from the area to regain the city’s historical political influence.
He also called on the sons and daughters of Iwo to work toward elevating the ancient city to greater prosperity.
The monarch expressed gratitude to dignitaries and well-wishers who joined him to celebrate the milestone.
