The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions ahead of the 2025 Capital City Race scheduled for Saturday, with restrictions expected between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
In a statement on Thursday, the Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation, Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, said the 10-kilometre race is being organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission in collaboration with the Capital City Race organisers.
According to her, the race will begin at the Ikeja Shopping Mall before moving through Billings Way, Kudirat Abiola Way, the Opebi Link Bridge, Adeniyi Jones Avenue, and Oba Akran Road by LASUTH. It will finish at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church on Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja.

Ogunlola noted that several roads, intersections and junctions along the route will be partially closed to traffic and reopened intermittently as runners progress. She assured residents that traffic officers will be strategically deployed to manage movement and ensure safety throughout the event.
She added that personnel from the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be stationed along the route to guide motorists.
The ministry appealed to road users to remain calm and cooperate with officials, stressing that the temporary disruptions were necessary to ensure a safe and successful race.
