The Kaduna State Government has started preparations to host the 2026 Nigeria Public Relations Week, alongside the 63rd Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR.

The event is scheduled for April 2026 and is seen as a significant endorsement of the state’s ongoing peace and development initiatives.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki at the inauguration of committees responsible for organizing the event in Kaduna, emphasized that hosting these major national gatherings reflects the state’s commitment to fostering peace and driving developmental progress.

Maiyaki said the conference was tagged “CrocCity 2026, would highlight Kaduna’s “Community-led Peace Model,” which he described as a major pillar of the state’s ‘Development’ Agenda’.

According to him, the present administration has adopted an approach that allows communities and traditional institutions to drive policies and projects, making the model worthy of national recognition.

He expressed concern over recent security incidents in Niger, stating that the safety of Kaduna was connected to that of neighbouring states.

“Kaduna will only be fully secure when Niger State is secure,” he said.

Maiyaki also said the state’s rise in national reform rankings further demonstrated its preparedness to host the conference.

He cited the 2025 Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report by PEBEC, which ranked Kaduna second after Lagos, describing the state as transparent, efficient and attractive to investors.

He added that Kaduna’s shift from “red” to “amber” in reform ratings by the British government reinforces its image as a safe and stable state capable of hosting major national events.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter of NIPR, Malam Haroun Malami, said the hosting rights reflected the state’s commitment to professionalism and national development.

Malami said the event would provide an opportunity for Kaduna to showcase its organisational capacity and the relevance of the institute in shaping national discourse.

He urged the members of the inaugurated committees to work with dedication and innovation to ensure a successful outing.

Malami will chair the Conference Planning and General Finance Committee, while Mohammed Abdullahi will head the Accommodation, Venue and Logistics Committee.

Garba Muhammad, a communications consultant, will lead the Media and Publicity Committee, Portia Stephanie Aji will chair the Security Committee, and Prof. Ahmed Sa’id will head the Panellists and Rapporteurs Committee.

In a goodwill message, the Chairman of the Niger Chapter of NIPR, Malam Mahmud Abdullahi, congratulated Kaduna for securing the hosting rights and called on northern states to support the effort.

He said Kaduna’s success would reflect positively on the entire region. NAN
