The Kano State Government has officially presented the Cycling Kano 2025 jersey ahead of the much-anticipated cycling event set for Saturday in demonstration of the administration’s dedication to sports development, engaging the youth, and promoting healthy lifestyles.
The ceremony took place at the office of the Senior Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Sports and Youth Development, Sani Musa Danja. During the event, the vibrant jersey design and colours were highlighted, symbolizing Kano State’s rich cultural heritage, unity, and enduring enthusiasm for sports. This jersey will be worn by all participants during the Saturday event, which is expected to draw cyclists, sports lovers, and spectators from Kano State and beyond.
The initiative aligns with the people-oriented and inclusive development agenda of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, whose administration has continued to prioritize youth empowerment, sports revitalization, and healthy lifestyles as key drivers of social cohesion and sustainable development in Kano State.

Speaking at the unveiling, Alhaji Sani Danja described the Cycling Kano initiative as a key component of the state government’s broader strategy, championed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to promote grassroots sports development and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle among residents.
“Cycling Kano is more than a sporting event; it is a movement that promotes wellness, discipline, and community bonding. The jersey symbolizes our shared identity and our resolve, under the leadership of His Excellency, to position Kano as a hub for sporting excellence,” he said.
The Kano State Government, led by Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, commended sponsors, partners, and stakeholders for their invaluable support in making the event a reality and urged residents to turn out in large numbers to participate and cheer on the cyclists.
Saturday’s event is scheduled to commence at 7:00 a.m. from the Emir’s Palace, Kano, with adequate security and medical arrangements in place, in line with the Governor’s directive to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants.
Cycling Kano is a state-backed initiative of the Abba Kabir Yusuf administration, aimed at promoting cycling as a competitive sport, a means of physical fitness, and an environmentally friendly mode of transportation, while fostering unity and youth empowerment across Kano State.
The 2025 edition of the event, scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 20, 2025, is sponsored by the Kano State Government, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, and NNPC, with additional support from Peak Yogurt and CWAY.
