Mr Ali Rabiu, the newly inaugurated President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, has promised to lead with integrity, inclusiveness and accountability as the Society enters a new phase.

Rabiu, the 35th President whose tenure takes effect, Jan. 1, 2026, made the pledge in his new year goodwill message to members made available to journalists on Thursday in Lagos.

He described his emergence as President as a product of years of mentorship service and collective support within the engineering community.

He said every stage of his professional journey had prepared him for the responsibility now placed on his shoulders.

“No step has been accidental. Providence has ordered this path placing mentors’ opportunities and challenges at different points” he said.

He paid tribute to the past presidents of the Society for their visionary leadership and the foundation laid for the progress recorded so far.

Rabiu said his administration would continue to engage the past leaders noting that their experience and resourcefulness would remain invaluable as the Society navigates new opportunities and challenges.

He called for unity across all arms of the Society, adding that, the strength of the association depended on the collaboration and commitment of members.

“A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If we must live up to the expectations of providing engineering solutions that will propel our nation to higher altitudes, we must fortify all our flanks,” he said.

Rabiu outlined his vision for a more inclusive and empowered NSE where every engineer feels valued and has opportunities for growth.

He explained that the Society would continue to prioritise professionalism and constructive engagement with government and industry.

He also reaffirmed commitment to advancing the NSE Strategic Agenda which focuses on membership development strengthened partnerships with stakeholders’ global visibility and community impact.

According to him the agenda will be further refined in 2026 to ensure the Society remains a driver of national development.

The president expressed optimism for the year ahead assuring members of his dedication to the responsibilities entrusted to him.

“I am hoping and trusting in Almighty Allah that together we shall build a stronger better and more prosperous Nigerian Society of Engineers,” he said.

Rabiu wished all members success in their individual and collective endeavours as the country begins 2026. NAN
