The Federal Government has congratulated the Super Eagles for winning the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, describing the team’s outing as a source of “pride and joy” to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
In a statement issued Saturday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, commended the players, coaches and support staff for what he called a display of “heart, skill, and resilience” throughout the tournament.
Idris said the team demonstrated courage and unity from the group stages through to the conclusion of the competition in Casablanca, adding that the Super Eagles “didn’t just play; you inspired millions of Nigerians.”
According to the minister, the bronze medal further reinforces Nigeria’s standing and history in the AFCON, noting that the country’s record at the competition remains strong and enduring.
“The way you competed, especially against strong teams, showed discipline and an unbroken fighting spirit,” the minister said, stressing that the team’s performance underscored Nigeria’s reputation as a powerhouse in African football.

Idris urged the players to celebrate the achievement and use it as motivation for future competitions.
“Congratulations, Super Eagles. Nigeria applauds you,” he said, ending with a prayer for the team and the country.
