President Bola Tinubu’s Protocol Liaison Officer, PLO, Amb. Yakubu Musa has disbursed scholarships ranging from N150,000 to N100,000 to 513 indigent students studying in various tertiary institutions in Nasarawa State.
He awarded the scholarships during the PLO 2025 Scholarship Scheme Funds Disbursement ceremony held at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK, on Saturday.
Musa said his experience while growing and his resolve to work hard to succeed was what inspired him to set up the PLO scholarship scheme for the benefit of students in the state.
He added that the initiative was also borne out of his personal determination to support students in the state to achieve their education aspirations.
“Why am I doing this? This is not sponsored by the Federal Government, state government or anybody. It is my personal passion for the development of the state.
“My dream is that wherever I may be, because I cannot be PLO forever, I wish to continue with this scholarship to the extent that every student in Nasarawa State will one day benefit from the scholarship scheme.
“So, my advice is that if you are not a beneficiary now, be patient and keep studying more to get good grades to qualify,” he said.
The presidential aide urged the beneficiaries to remain disciplined, dedicated and committed to their studies, urging, “sky should be their starting point.”
Musa, who is an alumnus of NSUK, thanked the management of the university for its efforts in churning out quality graduates and assured of his commitment to supporting it whenever the need arose.

Associate Prof. Shuaibu Abdul, Chairman, Organising Committee of the PLO’s scholarship scheme, said a total of 513 students spread across all the 13 local government areas and tertiary institutions in the state were selected for the scholarships .
He explained that the basic requirements were that the students must be indigenes of the state and attained a Cumulative Grade Points Average, CGPA, of 3.0 and above.
He added that out of the 513 beneficiaries, seven whose CGPA in the first class rank got N150,000 each while others below that got N100,000 each.
“The requirements are that you must be an indigene of Nasarawa State and you must have 3.0 CGPA with 20 slots allocated to each local government area.
“But, if you are an indigene of Toto Local Government Area of the state where the sponsor comes from, then everyone who meets the requirements automatically qualifies,” he said.
He pointed out that the award was in recognition of the students’ hard work, dedication and commitment to academic excellence and congratulated them on their achievements.
Abdul, disclosed that the selection process in the local government areas was on the basis of “first come, first serve”, and assured those who didn’t get the scholarship fund that the scheme was a continuous one and should be patient for the subsequent editions.
Prof. Sa’adatu Liman, Vice-Chancellor, NSUK, represented by her the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Maikano Ari, hailed the donor for his benevolence towards the indigenous students.
She also appreciated the organizing committee set up by the PLO to screen and select the eligible beneficiaries for doing a thorough job even as she promised that the university would continue to work closely with him to achieve more goals.
Miss Ruth Samuel, an indigene of Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area, who studies Philosophy at NSUK, appreciated the PLO for supporting her and other beneficiaries to fund their education.
“I am really short of words. What he has done will never be forgotten in my heart. I pray God will continue to prosper him to do more. I also want to assure him that as for me I will reciprocate this gesture by making sure I come out with good grades,” she said.
