The Lagos State Police Command has arrested nine people in the investigation of the murder of Prince Ademola Akinloye, the son of the Ajiran of Agungi, Oba Tijani Akinloye

Akinloye, was killed on August 26, 2024 by gunmen who shot and brutally murdered him along Chevron Drive, near the Ebano Supermarket in the community.

Following intensive intelligence gathering, the police have now taken nine suspects into custody.

According to a police source, the command’s tactical squad arrested seven of the suspects on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, while two other suspects had already been apprehended a week earlier. These arrests are the result of ongoing investigations into the violent crime.

The investigation has also uncovered potential links to other violent acts.

The source revealed that some of the arrested suspects are also being investigated for their alleged involvement in the killing of another man, Sheriff Salami, which occurred on April 18, 2023, in the Moba community, Ajah.

The Ojomu Royal Family of Ajiran, led by the monarch Oba Tijani Adetunji Akinloye, has publicly addressed the situation.

In a notice, the family confirmed its active involvement in the investigation.

They stated that the murders were carried out in broad daylight and that it is crucial to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice so that residents of the kingdom can live without fear.

The family is seeking closure and justice for the victims.

In their statement, they also warned the public about the unauthorized sale of their family land.

A prominent businessman in the community, Bashir Fakorede, also voiced his strong support for the police’s renewed efforts.

He commended the command for reopening the case, which led to the recent arrests.

Mr. Fakorede emphasized that the issue was not a simple land dispute, calling that narrative misleading.

He urged the police to conduct a swift and transparent investigation to ensure justice is served.

He also warned against any attempts to disrupt the investigation and called on the youth to seek justice peacefully.
