The Lagos State Government has announced traffic management plans to enable the Federal Ministry of Works reconstruct a section of the main carriageway between the Super Bus-Stop and the Ilepo Bus-stop along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that the road reconstruction will commence from Saturday, March 7, to Saturday, May 30 (12 weeks).

He stated that in line with the scheduled reconstruction, the main carriageway from Super Bus-stop to Ilepo Bus-stop (Lagos bound) would totally be closed to traffic.

“To manage movement along the corridor, motorists are hereby enjoined to take note of the highlighted alternative routes.

“For Lagos bound traffic: Option one – motorists from Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate going to Lagos/Oshodi, will be diverted to the BRT corridor by Super Bus-Stop and exit the BRT corridor by Pleasure Bus-Stop (Ilepo) to continue their journeys.

“Option two – motorists from Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate going to Lagos/Oshodi can also go through Ekoro Road to Old Otta Road, through Alira Street, to link Abeokuta Street, to connect Pleasure Bus-Stop to continue their journeys.

“Option three – motorists from Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate going to Lagos/Oshodi can alternatively go through Abule Egba underbridge to connect Agege to link their desired destinations,” he said.

He noted that for the construction period, motorists on the other side of the carriageway, (Abeokuta Bound) would have a through traffic.

The commissioner said for breakdown management, emergency tow vehicles would be stationed to provide quick recovery operations within the BRT corridor during the period.

“Motorists are implored to be patient, comply with traffic signage and cooperate with traffic management officials deployed along the corridor for safe and efficient execution of the reconstruction works, for better motoring experience,” he said.
