Nigerian businessman and socialite Cubana Chief Priest has revealed that failing to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last general election was a mistake, adding that he has now chosen to align with the federal government.
Prompt News reports the nightlife entrepreneur made the remark while speaking at a political gathering in Imo State, describing the meeting as the result of several weeks of preparation and a sign of increasing support for the current administration.
According to him, years of political opposition had not delivered the expected benefits, which prompted a change in strategy.
“We have decided to partner with the government at the center. We are not ready to fight. We tried fighting and it didn’t work for us,” he said.
During his remarks, Cubana Chief Priest also applauded the governor of the state, Hope Uzodimma, for maintaining a strong working relationship with the federal government, noting that such cooperation has helped attract development projects to the state.
He also praised Seyi Tinubu, describing him as someone contributing to unity and strengthening connections among different communities across the country.
Reflecting on his political stance during the previous election, the businessman admitted that opposing Tinubu was a miscalculation.

“Politics is a game…we don’t want to lose again and we will never waste our votes again,” he said.
He further expressed confidence that the growing support for the president could develop into one of the biggest political movements in the country, adding that efforts would intensify ahead of future elections.
Cubana Chief Priest concluded by praying for Tinubu’s success in office and encouraged Nigerians to embrace cooperation and unity for the country’s progress.
The socialite further stressed that his decision to support the Tinubu administration was rooted in a desire for tangible development and progress. He explained that previous political alignments had not yielded meaningful results for communities, businesses, or young entrepreneurs like himself, making it necessary to reassess his approach.
Cubana Chief Priest also revealed that he had engaged with several federal officials and stakeholders before publicly declaring his support, emphasizing that the move was carefully considered rather than a spontaneous shift. He expressed optimism that aligning with the government would open opportunities for investment and growth, particularly in sectors like tourism, entertainment, and hospitality.
Meanwhile, reactions on social media have been mixed, with some applauding the businessman for prioritizing national development over partisan loyalty, while others criticized him for changing political sides. Nevertheless, Cubana Chief Priest remains resolute, asserting that his ultimate goal is contributing to a united and prosperous Nigeria rather than personal gain.
