Politics in Kano State is witnessing a gale of defections and realignment as Gov. Abba Yusuf received eight NNPP lawmakers in the National Assembly who have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Th e governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa disclosed that the lawmakers cited internal NNPP crisis as the reason for their move.
The new defectors lawmakers are Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Garba Ibrahim Diso, Hassan Shehu Hussain, Idris Dankawu, Muhammad Chiroma Nalaraba, Rabiu Yusuf, Dr Ghali Mustapha Tijjani and Muhammad Bello Shehu.

The spokesperson noted that the event was attended by the former APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar-Ganduje and the Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Barau Jibrin.
Dawakin-Tofa quoted Gov. Yusuf as saying that the development was part of democratic process, noting that political realignments were not unusual in a vibrant democracy.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Kano state, irrespective of political differences.
The governor emphasised the need for unity and cooperation among elected representatives for the overall development of the state
