Governor Uba Sani has expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council for the approval of transformative infrastructure projects worth over ₦1 trillion in Kaduna State.
In a statement issued on Workers’ Day, the Governor described the awards as historic interventions that will reshape the economic and social landscape of the state.
The flagship project is the Kaduna Light Rail, a 50-kilometre metropolitan network comprising a 30-kilometre corridor from Rigachikun to Sabon Tasha and a 20-kilometre line from Millennium City to Rigasa, estimated at ₦1 trillion.
The light rail project, which positions Kaduna as only the second state in Nigeria to embark on such a modern urban rail system, will integrate with the ongoing 24-kilometre Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, system.
Governor Uba Sani noted that the development aligns with the state’s comprehensive Transport Policy, which emphasises efficiency, safety, environmental sustainability, and affordability, including the deployment of subsidised Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, buses.
Complementing the rail project is the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Mando–Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road, awarded at ₦178.12 billion.
The Governor recalled President Tinubu’s campaign promise during his visit to the insecurity-plagued Birnin Gwari area, describing the road project as a fulfilment of that pledge.

The rehabilitation is expected to boost connectivity, enhance security, stimulate agricultural productivity, and restore confidence to affected communities.
Governor Uba Sani commended the Federal Government for recognising Kaduna’s preparedness and vision, stressing that the projects represent deliberate investments in mobility, security, and economic vitality rather than isolated interventions.
“We view them as enduring legacies upon which a more prosperous, secure, and connected future will be built,” he stated.
The Governor reaffirmed Kaduna State’s commitment to the diligent and timely execution of the projects, while thanking President Tinubu for his commitment to equitable national development.
The approvals were part of major rail and road contracts endorsed by the Federal Executive Council on Thursday.
